Biography
While at university I was scouted a few times, twice in Chicago then Los Angeles and knew there was something worth pursuing. So once I graduated with a studio fine Arts degree I made my way down to South Beach Miami in the fall of 1993 and lucked into a job at “Wings of Steel” a Harley Davidson shop Tucked away on Española way in South Beach. It was there once again I myself Scouted, made clear I needed some images and needed to shoot with a photographer. Being freshly out of school and my parents less than excited with this path I put myself on. I had to get creative So, To pay for my first test I had only one asset. I sold my car, a week later I was represented by Elite models, a month later I was direct booked on a Armani campaign being shot by Peter Lindberg in Egypt. That’s when jobs booked months in advance, a couple of days before leaving for the booking Isabella my agent, calls me in to tell me for a chat ask me to bring in my airline tickets for the booking. That’s when I learned I had been replaced by Mark Vandeloo. She then told me at the time I was the first model Giorgio would have booked with out meeting in person. To not lose faith, “I know men, you will work David”, A year later I was in my hometown working on my art work creating a commercial installation project I had landed. At the same time I was being direct booked to Europe and all through out the United States. I never stoped working and always just planed to do my part to keep a foot in door as long as the phone kept ringing. I have learned life can change on a dime. Don’t be afraid to push all your chips in and see where life takes you.
