Harry King

Born in London 1943

Became an apprentice junior at Eric of Baker street age 15

1968 started work at the top salon in London, Michaeljohn, after a few months started working with top editors and photographers. David Bailey, Norman Parkinson, Barry Lategan, Clive Arrowsmith.
Invented a couple of haircuts . Became  creative director. 
First fashion shows Valentino, Dior, Jean Muir.

Moved to NY end of September 1974 and started work at Cinandre on 57th st. A change of name from David to Harry as there was already a David working there and it would be too complicated for the receptionists.
 Four floors of hair. Over 40 hairdressers. Top floor Shiatsu massage, two makeup artists, 6 colorists, PR office.

After 6 months was working for Vogue who loved Harry’s natural hair look. First job Deborah Turbeville, then Arthur Elgort, Chris von Wagenanheim, Francesco Scavullo, Richard Avedon, Irving Penn.
Almost 60 covers for Vogue, 100 covers worldwide of Cosmopolitan, Madamoiselle, People, Interview magazine, British Vogue. 

American Vogue along with British Vogue and Italian Vogue did a six page story on Harry. 

After natural hair he did BIG HAIR and started another BIG trend. 
All the top models of the 70’s then the early 80’s.
